Citizens for San Andreas is a volunteer group of concerned citizens working to:

  • Establish and effect a vision for San Andreas that reflects broad input from the citizens of San Andreas, and;

  • Assure that there is broad community input in revising of the San Andreas Community Plan.

This revised plan will become an integral part of Calaveras County's revised General Plan of 2008.  As such, it will make a significant impact on the character and environment of the community of San Andreas in the next 10, 20, or even 30 years, by which time some estimate that the population of Calaveras County will double to about 90,000. That would be the approximate population once all EXISTING buildable parcels are completed - without any new zoning changes.

Please join us in this vital endeavor.

Community Plan Update Underway

Citizens for San Andreas has started evaluation of our current San Andreas Community Plan.  We have formed four committees to evaluate four different aspects of the current Community Plan.

  • Committee #1 - Evaluate the strengths of the current San Andreas Community Plan.

  • Committee #2 - Evaluate the weaknesses of the current San Andreas Community Plan.
(Click here for the Committee #2 report.)

  • Committee #3 - Identify land uses within the current San Andreas Community Map.

  • Committee #4 - Identify land uses within the proposed San Andreas Community Map.

If any one or more of these committees is of particular interest to you please email us and we will put you in contact with the members of that committee.

To get a copy of the current San Andreas Community Plan a download is available at the Calaveras County website (co.calaveras.ca.us) or you can purchase one for $9.95 at Anchor Printing, 45 E. Charles, San Andreas.  (Please give Anchor Printing advance notice by calling 754-1500.)  If you want to be up to speed on the update of the San Andreas Community Plan we highly recommend that you read the current San Andreas Community Plan.  It is only 33 pages long and is quite readable.

MONEY!

We have not mentioned the M word (money) before because, quite frankly, we did not want to scare you away.  Citizens for San Andreas is in the process of getting its 501 non-profit status.  If you have any creative ideas for a fundraising project within the San Andreas Community, or if you are knowledgeable about grants, we could certainly use your expertise.  We do not need a lot of money, but we do have some expenses, especially with printed materials such as the Community Surveys and handouts for the various community meetings.

Help! Please!

We still have a small number of people who do not have access to the Internet.  Please take on ONE phone buddy to keep informed about current happenings in the San Andreas Community.
Email us and we'll hook you up with a phone buddy.

Please tell your friends, family, and neighbors in the San Andreas Community about all that is going on.  If you like what we are doing tell them about Citizens for San Andreas.  Have them contact us (citizensforsanandreas@yahoo.com) if they want to get on our email list.

We do NOT share any contact information.

If you have any comments, concerns or suggestions please let us know.
